
Former President and CEO of The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges
Originally from New York City, Rick attended The George Washington University, receiving an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration. He holds an honorary degree from The University of Charleston. Rick held positions in local and national government and in higher education. He also served as President and CEO of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) in Washington, DC, until his retirement in 2019. He is a former member of the governing boards of The University of Charleston; Virginia State University; and Spelman College. He has also been a board member of American Rivers and The Council for the Advancement of Citizenship. He currently serves as vice chair of “Open Air” in Missoula, Montana. Rick is the author of several publications about board governance and fundraising. He continues to consult with and speak before not-for-profit organizations and higher education institutions. He and his wife, Fran, reside in Missoula Montana, and retain a home in Virginia. They are proud parents of Maren, and grandparents to Mikayla.
