Permeation Devices

This reusable permeation device is used to test drug permeation across in vitro tissues grown in cell culture inserts. This device addresses the issue of drug leaking between the tissue and wall of the insert by isolating the center of the tissue and forming a seal to separate the drug solution from the reciever solution. This ensures that the test drug can only permeate across intact tissue and not around it. Additionally, this design enables the user to measure tissue transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) when paired with a TEER device. The device fits in a standard 12-well plate and is designed to accept tissues grown in Millicell (12 mm) or Mattek (9 mm) standing cell culture inserts.

Custom device designs can also be provided to suit your needs. Devices which vary the permeable surface area, are compatible with other insert designs, or can be used with ex vivo tissue biopsies are either already available for can be developed upon request.

Holders and Racks

Angled Plate Holder

Holds standard cell culture/assay plates at a 30° angle and freeing up your hands. Useful in cell culture and plate applications to improve workflow and visibility.

Rotary Tool Bit Rack

This rack can be used to store and organize rotary tool bits. The rack also features slanted labeling surfaces which are compatible with 9 mm wide labeling tape.

Wash and Development Jigs

Coverslip (12 mm round) Wash/Development Jig

This jig can hold up to 30 12 mm round glass coverslips for washing, staining, or post-2pp print development. The raised legs allow clearance for a stirbar, the perforated bottom ensures adequate solvent flow over every coverslip, and the handle makes transferring between sequential solvent baths a breeze.

2" Wafer Inverted Development Jig

This jig holds 2" wafers horizontally for the development of 2PP 3D prints. The design allows for the wafer to be inverted which can reduce warping during the development of high aspect ratio structures and improve resin removal from microchannels. The raised legs allow clearance for a stirbar, the perforated bottom ensures adequate and turbulent solvent flow, and the handle makes transferring between sequential solvent baths a breeze.

Slide Inverted Development Jig

This jig holds standard microscope slides horizontally during the development of 2PP 3D prints. The design allows for the slide to be inverted which can reduce warping during the development of high aspect ratio structures and improve resin removal from printed microchannels. The raised legs allow clearance for a stirbar, the perforated bottom ensures adequate and turbulent solvent flow, and the handle makes transferring between sequential solvent baths a breeze.

Microtome Blade Handle and Sheath

This handle and sheath allows you to attach a low profile microtome blade to manually make clean and precise tissue sections. When paired with a tissue sectioning guide, this can be used to cut thick but reproducable specimen sections.

Tissue Slicing Guides

These tissue slicing guides can be customized and printed to your desired thickness and aids in taking thick, uniform, sections of tissue such as skin. The tissue is gently pressed against the wall using the pusher block, then a sharp blade (such as a microtome blade with handle) is placed into the slit to section the tissue.

Anti-Condensation TC Plate Cover for Imaging

This Anti-Condensation TC Plate Cover features a 6.35 mm thick borosilicate glass sheet which when preheated to the same temperature as the TC plate (e.g. by placing it in the incubator with the plate), will prevent condensation from forming on the plate lid when working at room temperature. This is particularly useful when imaging the tissues/cells using a upright microscope where condensation can severly comprimize image quality.
