  Hiring Paperwork

  New tutors will receive a hiring authorization form in their email once they accept the position. The tutor will take the form to Human Resources in Lommasson 252 to complete the requisite paperwork.
  

  Pay

  Study Jam Tutors' starting wage is $13 an hour. Upon successful completion of the Tutor Training class, returning tutors are eligible for a $1 increase. 

  Pay Schedule

  All students and temporary hires are paid on a two-week basis per the schedules provided by Human Resources. Please note that Direct Deposit elections require a full pay cycle before they auto-deposit to the designated bank. First paychecks must be picked up in the Human Resources office in Lommasson 252. Make sure to bring a photo ID.

• FERPA Certification Requirement

  As a Study Jam tutor, you may encounter confidential student information—including grades, academic concerns, or course performance. To ensure that all peer educators understand their legal responsibilities regarding educational privacy, FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) training is a required component of your onboarding.

  What You Need to Do:

  All Study Jam tutors must complete the following two training modules via the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s CITI Program platform:

  • Introduction to FERPA

  • FERPA for Instructors

  These modules provide essential knowledge about how to safeguard student records, respect student privacy in tutoring conversations, and comply with federal and institutional privacy regulations.

  Certification and Compensation:

  • Upon completion, you will receive a PDF certificate of completion. Please email a copy of this certificate to the Study Jam Coordinator.

  • You will be compensated for one hour of pay for completing the training.

  • Tutors are expected to complete this certification within two weeks of their first scheduled session. If more time is needed, please reach out—we’re happy to work with you.

  How to Access the Training:

  FERPA training is hosted on the CITI Program platform.
  Follow the steps below:

  4. When prompted, select the FERPA modules during the course selection process.

• Statement of Ethics 

  As a tutor in the Study Jam Tutoring program, you are expected to adhere to high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in your interactions with students, fellow tutors, and program staff. This includes, but is not limited to:  

  1. FERPA Compliance: Adhere to all guidelines outlined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and maintain the confidentiality of student records at all times. 
  2. Professionalism: Conduct yourself in a professional manner, demonstrating respect for students, fellow tutors, and program staff. This includes arriving on time for appointments and being prepared for each session. 
  3. Service Orientation: Prioritize the needs of the students and provide quality tutoring services that are in line with the goals and objectives of the program. 
  4. Objectivity: Avoid engaging in any activity that could compromise your objectivity or professional judgment.
