Educational Leadership Research in the State-Wide Conversation
Analyzing 15 years of student test data, a UM study revealed that students in four-day districts lag behind their five-day peers, with elementary math scores falling as much as 14 percentage points and reading scores up to 7 points lower.
The researchers, Drs. Erica Allen, Bill McCaw, John Matt, and Shirley Tang, also found that promised cost savings often don't materialize. Teacher pay, transportation, and other expenses stay the same, or even increase.
